Getting High in Ireland - Day 3

On the flight over, Antoinette had told us about Johnny Fox's,
the highest pub in Ireland and a truly authentic pub experience...
so, we made reservations for tonight's dinner and show.
While making the reservations for us, Katrin, at the desk,
assured us that we could easily drive the 15 minute drive
up the mountain and back down after the show.
(Katrin: "There will be lights, you know...")

So after lunch at the quaint and cozy Kingfisher's Kitchen
in Enniskerry (that little village we now realize is only
about two minutes from our hotel),
we decided to do a test-drive up the mountain to Johnny Fox's.

Here's my codfish on a "floury bap" and chips...yummy!

And here's Rob, soon after I rammed another curb and he exclaimed,
 "G___ G__ A__ M_____!"
Soon thereafter, he requested the keys and a turn at the wheel.
I sweetly obliged.
Oh, and here's Johnny Fox's.

This next series of photos is of some churches and cemeteries
in the area...a solemn and fitting shift at this point in today's adventures.

But before we move on, it's important to know, I think, that
we did learn a couple of valuable lessons from our driving experiences:

Lesson #1:
We decided that this driving experience is like a "trust-walk" for both of us.
And after nearly 45 years, it's still hard to know which is more challenging...
being in the driver's seat or trusting the other person who is.
(Fortunately or not, Rob did manage to find a few curbs himself and finally
acknowledged, at my request, that it was not as easy as it might have looked.
As I recall, I never shouted out during my time in the passenger seat,
but I can certainly see now why Rob did...hmmmmm.)

And Lesson #2 is probably even more valuable.

We decided to take a taxi to Johnny Fox's tonight!

And now, to church!

And here's evidence of Rob's successful turn at the wheel.
Photo-ops while we awaited for our taxi this evening...

Look who greeted us at Johnny Fox's...

Getting HIGH at Johnny Fox's on our 45th!
 Flexing my mussels...
Rob gets his Jameson and Coke...

Great Irish food, music and dancing in a hall filled with singing,
clapping, dancing people from all over the world.
What a way to celebrate 45 years of
"Getting Back in the Car"!

(Oh, and the ride back down the mountain was lovely... : )
