We took a last little spin this morning in the Dooley,
for gas and for a test-drive to the M50 "get-on" in preparation
Fortunately, we are driving a "marked car", which gives those folks
behind us a heads-up that we're going to be going considerably slower than
they would like and that we will no doubt look like we have no idea
where we are going...because, for the most part, we don't!
So our "little spin" turned into another "trust-drive" as we
missed the turn-offs, took extra rotations on the roundabouts,
and found ourselves flying by the seats of our pants!
From time to time, we did see some lovely sights,
when we dared look!
The loveliest of sights were the familiar words
"Enniskerry" and "PowersCourt"
and these magnificent entrance gates.
Ah...home again!
These were the sights of the Irish countryside we enjoyed
for the rest of the afternoon...
from the windows of the hotel lounge as we ate lunch
and found our perspective and sense of humor once again.
(Seems we always do...)
We discussed the potential for future adventures abroad
without ever having to get in another rental car.
In our defense, we agreed that with another week or so
of driving here we'd no doubt be pros.
But in the meantime, let us just say:
Driving in Ireland is NOT for the faint of heart!
(Aha! So that's why they called him "BRAVEHEART"!
Oooops, wrong country...)
We'll be driving through these beautiful gates for the last time tomorrow
morning at 6:45AM, making our way to Dublin for a 10:45AM flight.
We're giving ourselves plenty of time for any inadvertent
side-trips along the way.
It's been a great adventure!
Now, we're ready for home...no place like it.
