Henrietta

Well, this should have been posted on May 27th...
so it is a day late.

Yesterday would have been Mother and Daddy's
74th wedding anniversary.

Henrietta was a wedding gift
from Daddy's Sunday School teacher of the same name.

This cute little juicer has maintained her sweet disposition on many a shelf
and kitchen counter top in the last several houses we've inhabited.

When I see her,
I'm reminded that "love never fails";
it may encounter lots of bumps and skids,
but it keeps showing up, in one form or another.

Thanks, Henrietta!

Amber Waves

I stopped to take a few photos on my way home from San Angelo,
and realized after snapping this landscape that this was the exact location
of my pre-Christmas "blowout" and subsequent rescue
by that lovely Officer Hill.

It looks very different in the light of day
with all four tires cooperating!

Bronte Ruins

On the Up & Up

I had a great 24-hour marathon visit with my friend Kay in San Angelo,
a mid-point between our respective homes
in San Antonio and Lubbock.

We both drove to get there,
and then we drove some more (I rode; she drove),
just exploring country roads and talking non-stop.

This UP sign was one of my favorite sightings.
It spoke volumes about our time together
and this season in our lives.

(Notice it is not all clean and shiny and is a bit weather-worn,
but it's still standing strong and pointing UP!)

Blast from the Past

Upon returning from his travels, I surprised Rob with his favorite childhood memory-meal:

Banana/Peanut Butter/Mayonnaise Sandwich
Fritos
Nu-Grape Soda

As you can see, he was a happy, happy boy!
 Revealing the bananas...

and proudly displaying his NuGrape!

Grandy's Sentiments

Thirty-five Cents
Grandy Gets a Tuning

 Ahhh!
To have my keys gently removed,
refreshed, retouched, retuned and returned,
no longer just $.35,
it feels so good—my old self again,
coming up on that $1.00!

No longer stuck, or wedged,
or less than all
I was created to be.

Perhaps $1.00 is
 just around the corner,
or $.85, at least.
In the meantime, though,
I'm still,
always and forever,
good enough to make music,
sticks and squeaks
accepted!

Look your last...summer coming!

This "egg tree" is the last vestige of the Easter decor
I assembled for the piano "interest center".

Sawyer loved poking each little "egg-baw"
while I called out the colors in different vocal ranges.
(You'd have to be there...)

Anyway, I'm a little sad to see it go,
but summer is calling.

And Grandy is freshly tuned with her top up again!

Italia!

You'll notice that the 4th word across in today's puzzle is
ITALY,
a reminder that July 29th will be here in no time,
and my Napoli adventure with SIL Debrino
will be starting to unfold.

And, Sawyer put his stamp of approval on my new
Italia-Shoes
"made with love" in Italy.
I plan to break them in over the next several weeks,
so they can serve me well on the adventure.
They are very exotic AND practical,
if that's possible.

Just Grand!

Marilyn ("Mimi") & Sawyer

I am blessed with a rich circle of friends
who bless my life at every turn.
How fun it is to bring Sawyer into my circle
as his "village" expands!

God, thank you for the Mimis, Grammie,
Grandmother Karla, Nana, BeBe, GiGi, Coco, Mia,
and all the other precious grand-friends of mine
whose love for their grands
leaks out on mine.

Little Cuties

Clementines (Little Cuties) are such a friendly fruit!
 They play nice with bananas...
 and with limes...
and with other "little cuties",
even when they are used as "baw-baws" and thrown across the room,
which is what happened right after this photo was taken.

Shore Time

~Aaaaaah-Time~

Mother's Day Miracle

Remember those little eggs?

Here is Sandra's Mother's Day message:

"Last baby hatched today! How appropriate!
Just in time to make Ms Finch's Mother's day complete.
Mama has already employed Daddy finch to help her feed these five babies.
He is frequently seen in the nest poking food down these tiny throats."

Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?

Tee-hee...

Hmmmm?

May Day! May Day!

"Perfect house finch nest in the begonia hanging pot on my front porch.
Our God is amazing!"

This exquisite photo and these excited words
were sent to me on April 27th by my dear friend, Sandra.

Yes, May is finally here,
the weather is cold and dreary, in the 50's,
AND YET!

Perhaps it's all a sacred waiting game...
stay tuned.
