Written two years ago...still true today!

Heartstrings

Thirty-four years ago today

You were there

To push that tiny life from your body

Nestled there for nine months,

Tethered to your womb

With a nurturing cord

That, when severed, allowed

One to become two.

And soon after,

You were there

To lift that little life up and away,

Still tethered to your heart

With a cord of love

That, when severed, allowed

Two to become three.

~

And thirty-four years later,

You are here in my heart

Tethered with heart-strings

 Of profound gratitude

That will never be severed.
