Gratitude Blogging
It's the day before Thanksgiving, and for reasons I cannot fully explain,
I've decided to create a blog site.
Before I think myself out of it, I'm going to trust M.E.
(that's my new grandmother name) and just go with it.
I've had the pleasure of spending the past several days with my older grandson,
Caleb, and it's his recent spelling of my grandmother name
that prompted this blog site.
Caleb, and it's his recent spelling of my grandmother name
that prompted this blog site.
I've gone by Emmy since he was a baby,
but when he created a piece of artwork for me the other day, he wrote,
"For M.E.".
I like it! As the saying goes, "Wherever you go, there you are."
In fact, the older I get, the more comfortable I am with the M.E.
that just keeps showing up to be present, aware, and grateful for what is.
So, today, among so many things, I am grateful for Caleb
and his innocent wisdom in reminding me of who I am...
just M.E.
It's usually enough, you know.
And here I am, 6 years later...
Caleb is 12.
Sawyer is 7.
Weston Pax is 2.
Rob has been gone for 2 years now.
And I am still just M.E.
My original intention for the blog was to have a space
to record gratitude and instances of "soul-feeling happiness".
Then it became a travelogue of my life and loves.
Through the years, it has been where I've spoken my heart
through words and pictures.
It's been a daily journal of sorts where I've captured life at the time.
There have been times when it's been mostly words.
Other times, it's mostly pictures.
It's been commentary, narration, rants, and raves...but mostly,
it's where I get centered in on what really matters.
Now I think of it as a scrapbook,
bearing pieces of my life as they show up,
and reminding me that
LIFE IS A SCENIC DRIVE,
and I do not want to miss a bit of it!
I envision some granddaughter-in-law of mine, years well into the future,
finding this blog and being so eager to get to know
"Emmy and her grandboys in the olden days".
I can dream, can't I?
