Artifact

Today Sawyer came out of my StudyO carrying an 8th grade art project
that his father made, and that I have kept for these 20+ years because I am a sentimental fool when it comes to hand-made-kid-gifts.

Through the years it has served as a pencil holder, a candle holder,
a feather holder, and most recently just a funky piece of pottery
on the shelf beneath my desk.

In this photo, Sawyer is sipping a make-believe beverage from it,
adding his trademark "ummm" at appropriate intervals.

While I was enjoying this Sawyer-moment, it dawned on me
that eighth-grade-Zack could never have imagined,
while he was dutifully molding this required piece of artwork,
that one day a little piece of him
would be admiring it and appreciating its versatility.

We just never know, do we?

Face Therapy

Here Mother is teaching me her facial therapy routine.

According to her therapist, all the routine physical exercise in the world
will not address your facial muscles.

By doing a twice daily regimen of facial calisthentics,
those muscles can be significantly strengthened.

After several weeks of daily facial exercise sessions, then simply doing them
a couple of times a week will provide the necessary maintenance.

We will continue these exercises while she is visiting,
and we'll let you see the "after".
Amazing, I'm sure!
